Born and raised in Uzbekistan to an immigrant Armenian family, I’ve always gravitated towards people and things that introduced me to the worlds different from my own. Those early cultural influences shaped my taste for underdogs and outcasts.
I began my career as a fashion designer and crafted collections for major retailers before transitioning to filmmaking. I started out as a producer and worked my way into writing and directing. Driven by my passion for character-driven stories, I tend to specialize in exploring themes of resilience, courage, often through the lens of an outsider. With creative sensibility, influenced by a background in fashion and also by such filmmakers as Tarkovsky and Almodovar, I bring a distinctive voice and a unique depth and aesthetic to my work.
My scripts have been optioned, produced, and placed at prestigious competitions, such as the Academy Nicholl Fellowship and ScreenCraft. My films have been showcased at festivals worldwide, often as finalists, and are distributed globally through VOD, cable, DVD/Blu-Ray, and streaming platforms. Notably, my film Funeral about a Trans Woman is a part of the Film Fund’s auteur collection.
Currently, I am expanding my creative horizons, developing a slate of TV pilots, series, and feature films that span diverse genres and formats. Whether crafting an intimate drama or a high-concept thriller, I place emphasis on strong narrative structure, originality and emotional impact.
